IDIAP Jordi Gol
In 1996, the Catalan Institute of Health (ICS) created the IDIAPJGol as a public foundation to promote research in Primary Health Care (PC). With the subsequent affiliation to the Department of Health and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the IDIAPJGol became a PC University Research Institute. The IDIAPJGol consists of one Central Research Unit (UCR) and 8 Research Support Units (USR) spread throughout Catalonia (Girona, Metropolitana Nord, Catalunya Central, Barcelona, Costa de Ponent, Tarragona-Reus, Terres de l’Ebre and Lleida). These different units aim to organise, promote, support and disseminate research in the whole Catalan territory. The IDIAPJGol operates in close collaboration with the Catalan Institute of Health, and there are currently a total of 1,249 professionals involved in research in both institutions, out of them 117 (71,4 full time equivalent) are IDIAPJGol
IDIAPJGol's potential is based on its uniqueness: it centralizes research and research staff from 300 PC centers in Catalonia (structured in 8 USRs and 33 accredited and distributed research groups across the territory), coordinates the RedIAPP ( Research Network on Preventive Activities and Health Promotion-Carlos III Health Institute), participates in other research platforms, and manages the database of SIDIAP (System for the Development of Research in the PA), leading to being a referent in the use of “Real World Data" at European level.
